The Faculty of Economics, established in 2010, consists of twenty lecturers. Fourteen of the lecturers have master’s degrees and six are pursuing P. HD at various universities abroad. The Faculty has enrolled students in bachelor of business administration department and from its establishment, 1042 students have been graduated. The Faculty has strong relations with Afghanistan Bank, private banks and universities, directorates of Customs, Finance, Municipality, Commerce Chamber, and Economics and mutual contract of assistance in various fields.

Introduction of economics faculty dean
Assistant Prof. Abdullah Ziarmal, son of Haji Mohammad Sayeed, was born in the Zhari district of Kandahar in 1990. Subsequently, Mr Ziarmal's family relocated to Kandahar City to provide their children with a proper education and the opportunity to live in a more civilized environment. He attended Shah Hussain Hotak High School for his primary education and later completed his secondary education at Ahmad Shah Baba High School.
In 2010, Mr. Ziarmal earned his diploma from Ahmad Shah Baba High School. In 2013, he successfully passed the Kankoor exam and gained admission to Kandahar University's Faculty of Economics. He graduated with honours in 2016, having excelled throughout the four-year program. Following his graduation, he took on the sacred responsibility of teaching and became a faculty member in the economics department at the university.
In 2020, Mr Ziarmal was selected to pursue his master's degree in Islamic Banking and Finance at IIUM University in Malaysia. He completed his master's program in 2022 with distinction, earning a place on the Dean's List.
Upon completing his master's degree in 2022, Assistant Professor Ziarmal returned to his native country and resumed his teaching position at the Faculty of Economics. In the same year, he was nominated as the Dean of the Economics Faculty at Kandahar University. Subsequently, the Prime Minister, Mr Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund, officially announced Mr Abdullah's appointment to this prestigious position.
Since then, Asst. Prof. Ziarmal has been leading the faculty and teaching a wide range of subjects in both the day and night sections of the Faculty of Economics. Additionally, he has provided instruction in various economic subjects at Kandahar University and other faculties, including journalism, education, and law.
Throughout his career, he has actively participated in numerous academic, social, and economic seminars, conferences, and workshops, both domestically and internationally. His contributions have extended to events held in countries such as Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

Author of 2 research papers. Guided 50 research scholars and 30 Research scholars are currently working under his guidance.

National Economics department will be at the top level in fields of teaching, research and academic services, and keeping the demands of the current economic problems, the department will educate, train and provide experienced scholars to the society.

The National Economics department is trying the very best to create an academic environment that can provide quality-based teaching and research services to the students. Moreover, it is its core responsibility to train and expertise the students in order to have proficient working capacity that bridge the gap founds in national economics of this country.

We are in contact with Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) to develop Curriculum for this department.

History
Kandahar University Faculty of economics was approved and established in the year (1389) by the Ministry of higher education (MoHE) and officially started functioning withing the framework of Kandahar University. As this faculty is a young faculty and is not long after its establishment while the Faculty of economics growing and has strong commitment to provide quality and useful academic services to all its citizens and stakeholders. Faculty’s leadership believes that Faculty of economics of Kandahar University is moving in a healthy circuit, taking steps towards expansion and growth. Hence, at the beginning of the activities of this young faculty, the following department was officially approved. Department of Finance and Banking is one of among. This department has 4 masters lecturers alongside a de facto PHD student and master student in international Islamic university of Malaysia (IIUM).
