Kandahar University Chancellor: Lecturers Should Focus More on Students' Intellectual and Professional Development Alongside Teaching

A coordination meeting was held at Kandahar University’s Masjid Sharif with faculty members from all departments to mark the beginning of the new semester. The event was attended by the university chancellor, Honorable Sheikh Mulvi Abdul Rahman Tayebi, members of the leadership, faculty deans, professors and all lecturers.

The meeting began with the recitation of several verses from the Holy Quran. Following this, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Dr. Ziaur Rahman Meshk Alamzai, welcomed the attendees and stated that during the previous semester, evaluations and monitoring were conducted across all faculties. He expressed gratitude that the university is progressing academically and administratively and that a strong sense of coordination has been established across all departments. Dr. Alamzai also emphasized stricter monitoring of faculty attendance, the effective use of the HEMIS system, and made further academic recommendations for teachers.

Next, the Vice Chancellor for Research, Associate Professor Dr. Engineer Kamaluddin Kamal, provided insights regarding academic research. He highlighted achievements such as enhancing faculty members' research capabilities, organizing an international conference at Kandahar University, and establishing an international academic journal for the university. He also shared future plans with the attendees.

Following this, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Mulvi Noor Ahmad Ayoubi, discussed student-related issues, stressing the importance of attendance control. He also shared the accomplishments and future plans aimed at providing more facilities for students.

In conclusion, the university chancellor, Honorable Sheikh Mulvi Abdul Rahman Tayebi, expressed deep appreciation to all faculty members for ensuring order and transparency in the final examinations of the previous semester. He acknowledged their dedication to conducting exams in strict accordance with principles and regulations. He also noted that, so far, no student has lodged any complaints about the final exams, which indicates that there is strong coordination, unity, discipline, and progress within the university.

During his speech, Mr. Tayebi shed light on the importance of obedience to Almighty Allah, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the current leadership. He emphasized that the success and development of this system lie in obedience and adherence to leadership decisions. He urged everyone to strengthen their unity and coordination. Furthermore, he reminded lecturers of their responsibility as intellectual leaders of society, stressing that, beyond teaching, they should also focus on students' intellectual, ethical, and professional development.
